Church Council

We came to California in 1983 from Michigan and found ourselves drawn to the pastors and people at Grace. Our children and their families followed and also chose Grace. Elsie sings in the choir and we attend the Glory (8:45am) worship service.

I was baptized in the farm church where my father had been confirmed. As we moved to town, I was confirmed and started searching for better answers to questions. Once married, a pastor assured me that answers were more likely to be found in church, and so I attended in spite of doubts. As we started our family, we moved into a different church area and were drafted into finance committee, Sunday School teacher, sound person and ultimately church council. Jesus was alive and well and I found Him with our children.

This is my 4th year on Council. I have been on the board of the Care Connections for several years. An outstanding feature of Grace has been the outward look toward the mission that God has for each of us. When we see the fantastic people that have found their way to Grace, we know that God is in control and has plans for Grace.

Elsie and I have been married for over 52 years. Elsie is a Registered Nurse and I am a Professional Engineer. Our 3 daughters are all Registered Nurses and our son is an Electrical Engineer. We have 9 grandchildren and 3 great granddaughters. I am coasting out of a consulting business where I testify as an Automotive Design Engineer.

I support Grace's Teaching, Values, and Vision Statement. We have already seen many blessings of this vision through the Grace School.

Grace is important to me because it has been my church home for the last 20 years. I feel inspired, refreshed and refilled just by being on the campus. I can't imagine being anywhere else but here at Grace, and I love my extended family of brothers and sisters in Christ.

I am currently starting my 4th year on Council as the First Vice President of the congregation and am on long-term assignment to the school. In the past, I have served in Youth Ministry, went with the youth to the DC/LA 2003 conference, served as the senior high girl's small group leader, hosted the youth several years at our home located in Mexico, taught Sunday School for several years, and served on the Stewardship team. I have been to Cursillo and served several times on the teams there. My great passion is Grace School. My daughter attended Grace School from preschool through seventh grade. I believe one of the reasons she is the wonderful woman she is today is because of her involvement at Grace.

It would be hard to think of a time when I did not believe in God and that Jesus was my Savior. I was 27 and a divorced single parent when I finally had it with my life and cried out for God to take control since I was finally ready to yield. It has been the most amazing and wonderful 17 year journey since then!

You'll find me with my family at the Journey (10:30am) worship service, but I value all worship styles and would attend whatever the latest worship time is on Sunday because I am NOT an early bird!

I've been married for almost 12 years to my super fabulous husband, Terry. I have a daughter, Jillian, from my first marriage, and Terry has a son, Jason, a daughter, Wendy, and two granddaughters, Hannah and Savannah. I consider myself blessed with five children ages newborn to 33, and I adore them all.

I whole heartedly support the Grace Teaching, Values, and Vision Statement because I believe that "multiplying" rather than simply "addition" is a much more effective way to Expand God's Kingdom.

I've been a member of Grace for 20+ years. I love the pastors (past and present), the warm loving congregation, and our purpose of Expanding God's Kingdom through christian community.

I'm currently involved at Grace on the Exec., Church Council, HR committee, Finance Committee and Foundation Committee.

In the past, I've been involved in two life groups, Alpha, Cursillo, Dr. Ray Anderson's class, Finance classes, and the Marriage Course.

My faith came alive about 7 years ago when I started to want more of Jesus in my life. I started attending Christian activities. ALPHA made me focus and the personal study and classes sealed the deal. I cannot imagine not using the free Grace and power of God daily to handle life in general. I love to be a lover of God!

You'll find me on Sundays at the GLORY worship (8:45am) and then in Dr. Ray Anderson's adult study class at 10:15am in Hope Hall.

I'm been married forever to Pamela. We have three daughters (Nina, Lea, and Gena). Two of them graduated from Fullerton State and Gena is a Junior at HBHS. I am a full time real estate agent with ReMax and have been a broker for over 22 years. My prior job was at St. Mary's Medical Center in Long Beach where I was Director of Pharmacy and Home Health services for over 17 years. My degrees are in Pharmacy from Wyoming and a Doctorate from USC (go trojans!). My work involved all aspects of Management, budgeting, staff evaluation, management by objectives, work units for staffing, cost feasibility studies, checks and balances on job duties for staff, etc...

I support Grace's Teaching, Values, and Vision Statement.

I care deeply about Grace Lutheran Church.
It is my faith family.  My children have attended Grace School and were confirmed at Grace.  I have grown spiritually at Grace through small groups, adult education, sermons, and worship experiences.

Currently, I am involved in Church Council, Disciple, EGP, Journey planning, Mercy Ministries, and worship planning
. In the past, I have been a confirmation leader, adult Sunday School teacher, lay reader, and President of Grace Lutheran School Parent Teacher League.

I was baptized as a baby and have always believed in God.  Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Confirmation, church camp, and youth group were important parts of my faith development, and I am thankful that Grace offers them to the children of our faith family.  Over the years, my faith has deepened and continues to grow.

I regularly attend Journey at 10:30am and respect traditional worship, which was an important part of my childhood.

I am married to Russell SanFilippo; we celebrated our 23rd Anniversary in June 2007.  We have two children, Nick and Elissa.

I support Grace's Teaching, Values, and Vision Statement.

In truth I was a life-long Presbyterian until my wife Dianne and Pastor Paul convinced me in 1983 that God was directing me to Grace. In March 2008, Dianne and I celebrated our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary and also twenty-five years here at Grace.

We attend the Glory (8:45am) worship service. We enjoy our small group made up of Empty Nesters and the Grace Diners group. We also participate in Second-Half Ministry programs and outings.

Currently, I serve as Treasurer on the Church Council and the Finance Team. I also serve as Chairman of the Orange County Care Connection Outreach, which provides senior day care here at Grace.

In the past I've served on Church Council as Administrative Team Chariman. I've also served on the Budget Team, Audit Team and Grace Foundation.

We have four daughters and twelve grandchildren to keep us busy. Their homes are in Phoenix, Ellis Kansas, Garden Grove and Corona. We enjoy visiting and spoiling the grandchildren and attending church with our family in three different states!

I support Grace's Teaching, Values, and Vision Statement.

Grace is and has been our church home since 1983.

I'm currently involved in two small groups, one that grew out of Alpha and another Men's group. I'm involved in the Disciple Bible Study, Men of Grace activities, the Marriage Course and Cursillo.

In the past, I've served as a Sunday School teacher, youth group adult leader, call committee for the school principal, Alpha leader, prayer conferences, Synod Annual Meeting conferences, Cursillo, and the Golf Tournament committee for Pastor Paul's son fundraiser.

God blessed me with faithful Christian parents, but I was still a slow cooker. I was aware of God from my childhood, especially in my Elementary and Junior High years. A true, intentional daily commitment to God was solidified when we had a family crisis with our children. My dependence on our Lord and obedience to Him became a primary source and strength for my life.

Our family attends the GLORY (8:45am) worship and sometimes attends Dr. Ray Anderson's adult study class.

Deanna and I have been married for 36 years. We have two children: John, 23, and Michele, 19. John is working as a mechanic and Michele works while attending college. I am a native Californian growing up in the Westchester area near LAX and Deanna grew up in the Midwest.

I support Grace's Teaching, Values, and Vision Statement.

The people that attend Grace Lutheran Church are my spiritual family and I feel so connected to them. Grace also provides me a place of solace and peace when needed and I always feel like I am back "home" when I am with my Grace family.

I serve on the Journey leadership team. Also, I love to pray and serve as a "red dot" prayer minister. I am so passionate about ALPHA because it was how I was able to "re-connect" with my heavenly Father. Also, volunteering for ALPHA is a "structured" way for me to be used by God to expand His Kingdom. I am also very active in Cursillo as this also provides a venue to be used by God in serving His children.

I was born in Minnesota, but raised most of my life in Huntington Beach. (Yes, I remember when old HB consisted of corn and tomatoe fields....but really, I am not that old! LOL.) I come from a big Irish family (2 brothers and 4 sisters). All are married and have kids. I am married to a wonderful man Rick and we have a 25 year old daughter, Bernadette. I have worked for the American Red Cross for 22 years and serve as the Director of Health and Safety. I love the mountains, music and children.

I support Grace's Teaching, Values, and Vision Statement.

I am a “Cradle Lutheran” and have been active in the church all of my life. I have had a number of profound spiritual experiences in my lifetime, and God has always been the center of my life. I have served in numerous volunteer capacities in the church and Synod, and I was a member of the Grace staff as Director of Parish Education for more than 20 years.
